Please pray this week for the following concerns and celebrations brought before God during worship last Sunday, August 19th:

CONCERNS: prayers of support for Brenda (Laura’s cousin Kyle’s mother) as she mourns the loss of her son; prayers of recovery for Roberta; prayers of healing for Shayla; prayers of support for Shayla and her family; prayers of safe travel for Sue and Janine; prayers for medical research (especially research to cure diseases like Alzheimer’s); prayers of support for Jerry’s brother and family (in the loss of Darlene); prayers of healing for Cliff.

CELEBRATIONS: Thanksgiving for the communion wafers regularly given as gifts from Rev. Jane’s father-in-law.

God is the heart of life, and we are the heartbeat.  Fill our hearts, O God, with thanks and praise and songs of joy.  Make us rejoice in the miracle of life and delight in our participation.  Amen.

Our God in heaven, reveal who you are. Set the world right; do what’s best — as above, so below. Keep us alive with three square meals. Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others. Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil. You’re in charge! You can do anything you want! You’re ablaze in beauty! Yes. Yes. Yes. (Adapated from Eugene Peterson’s “The Message Bible”)

p.s. Thanks to David for preaching and leading the whole service today.

“We believe that powers of evil cannot kill God… God walks on free!” (call to worship July 21)

August 1, 2007

Last week’s CALL to WORSHIP:

We believe that horizons of hope are never fixed.
They always move beyond, in the creativity of God.
We believe that powers of evil cannot kill God.
God walks on free and leaps ahead of us in the risen Christ of faith.
We believe that the Spirit can never be confined.
She dances forth in the world and is found in surprising places, leading us on until the end of time. (Adapted/D McRae-McMahon/bst)
