prayer concerns and celebrations (Sept 9)

September 12, 2007

Please pray this week for the following concerns and celebrations brought before God during worship, September 9th:

CONCERNS: we lift to God prayers for Jerry’s family, for Linda’s mom and for Roberta’s mom, and prayers of healing and progress for Cliff.

God, hear my prayer,
And let my cry come to You.
Do not hide from me in the day of my distress
Turn to me and speedily answer my prayer.
Eternal God, Source of healing,
Out of my distress I call upon You.
Help me sense Your presence
At this difficult time.
Grant me patience when the hours are heavy;
In hurt or disappointment give me courage.
Keep me trustful in Your love.
Give me strength for today, and hope for tomorrow.
To your loving hands I commit my spirit
When asleep and when awake. You are with me; I shall not fear.
— Jewish Healing Prayer

CELEBRATIONS: we thank God with Laura for the support and friendship she’s found in this congregation.

We praise you, O God, for all that I see of you in the work of creation, the earth, the sea and sky and everything that has breath. You are worthy to be praised. We know that your promises are true and that we are only beginning to taste the glory that shall be revealed when you, O God, take power and reign. Eternal God, we are surrounded by blessings and our hearts are full of thanksgiving for all that you have done for us. Loving One, we thank you for all of your faithfulness to us who worship you in this place. We praise you that you are faithful good and true and that you hate nothing that you have made. For your love and kindness to us and to all your children, we praise your name. Now may the offering of our lives and the words of our mouthes be acceptable acts of thanksgiving and praise to you. Lord Jesus Christ, fill us we pray with your light that we may reflect your wondrous glory! Amen. (adapted from a prayer I found online)
